Google Wallet Adds New ‘Purchase and Pass’ Personalization Settings

What’s new in Google Wallet

Google is preparing to roll out a new personalization feature in Google Wallet. The update will allow users to get more tailored recommendations based on their purchase and pass history.

The new “purchase and pass” settings will let Google use data from your online Google Pay transactions, loyalty cards, event tickets, and boarding passes. This information will help personalize your experience across Google’s services.

For example, if you often fly with a particular airline, Google may show you related flight offers when you’re booking your next trip. Similarly, downloading a running app might prompt health or fitness-related suggestions. Google says these updates aim to create experiences that feel more relevant to users.

Personalization with privacy control

Google emphasizes that users will have full control over how this data is used. You can enable or disable personalization entirely, or choose specific preferences.

There are three main options available:

  • Organic personalization, such as in-app recommendations.
  • Ads personalization, where Google tailors promotional content.
  • Ad measurements, used to analyze campaign performance.

Importantly, Google clarifies that sensitive information will never be used for ad targeting, and that purchase and pass data will not be sold to third parties.

Rollout details

These personalization settings will start rolling out to users in the United States over the coming months. Once the feature becomes available, Google Wallet users will receive a notification in the app.

A support document will also outline more details and guide users on how to adjust their preferences.

With this update, Google Wallet is evolving beyond payments to become a smarter, more personalized part of your digital life—while keeping privacy controls front and center.
